A hard, yellow cheese originting from Switzerland, Gruyère has a sweet but slightly salty flavor that’s creamy and nutty when young, becoming more earthy as it matures. When fully aged after around a year, it develops small cracks that give it grainy texture. Gruyère is popular for its smooth-melting properties.
