Local Cheese Manufacturer Nantwich Cheese Company has won a gold award for their oak smoked cheddar product at this year’s Nantwich Show, which also hosts the International Cheese Awards, held on Tuesday at Dorfold Park in Nantwich. The company won this award for the second year running.
Nantwich Cheese Company Ltd, are a local cheese company specializing in the blended cheese market, producing fridge favorites such as Wensleydale and Cranberry, Hot Mex Cheese and of course Smoked Cheddar amongst others, overall Nantwich Cheese produce over 20 different flavored cheeses under their Nantwich Cheese brand as well as for many customers private labels. Although the business has produced these products since being established in 2009, it has enjoyed rapid growth in the blended cheese area over the past 18months, with production increasing almost 900%. 2014 has also seen the company launch their top flavors into a number of major retailers in both 150g packs and 140g sliced packs. Due to this rapid growth the company has invested heavily in its future and has just built and opened is dedicated additive production centre which is situated adjacent to the main site. The facility is a state of the art production area, offering customers a wide range of product formats. The site is British Retail Consortium Grade A Approved. Nantwich Cheese first won a gold award at the 2013 Cheese awards for its Oak Smoked Cheddar Product, so this year it was only right that the smoked be entered again, this time it was joined by other flavours in the range, with 2 productions becoming award winners at this year’s event. The oak smoked cheddar took the top spot winning a gold award for Cheese with Additives. The Cheddar, Mixed Peppers and Garlic product also walked away with a bronze.
Nantwich Cheese Marketing Manager Luke Morgan commented on his delight that the product had taken the top spot. “This year has seen a huge amount of change for our business and our blended products, with our new facility opening and our product rebrand. I have to say the rebrand worked, and the products are a huge success, let today be a testament to that.” and Managing Director Wayne Morgan added that he was “extremely proud of the result and even more so of the team behind it, let this be the 2nd year of many to come."
Nantwich Cheese is a family run business and was established in 2009, currently employs over 40 people and enjoys a multimillion pound turnover. The company now specializes in blended cheese flavours, but des however offer a full variety of products to the manufacturing, retail and wholesale/foodservice markets.
